Petrobras announced that the FPSO BW Cidade de São Vicente in the pre-salt of Santos Basin starts production in the Iracema area (Block BM-S-11), in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin. The platform was connected to well RJS-647, at a water depth of 2,212 meters.
The two formation tests for well 4-RJS-647 (4-BRSA-711-RJS), located in the Tupi Assessment Area, in ultra-deep Santos Basin waters and informally known as Iracema, have been completed and proved the high productivity of the pre-salt carbonate reservoirs, this information was publish by PreSalt.com (Read more...) on November 18, 2009 in having as source the consortium Petrobras (Bovespa: PETR3/PETR4, NYSE: PBR / PBRA, Latibex: XPBR / XPBRA, BCBA: APBR / APBRA) (65% - Operator), BG Group (BG.L, BG.LN) (25%), and Galp (GALP.LB) (10%).
In another PreSal.com news published on November 19, 2009 (Read more...), the consortium have completed two Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) on the Iracema well (4-RJS-647 - Petrobras name or 4-BRSA-711-RJS - ANP name) in the BM-S-11 appraisal area in the Santos Basin pre-salt, offshore Brazil. DSTs were carried out over two zones with aggregate production amounting to 10,500 barrels oil per day of light 32° API oil and 17 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas. Flow rates were facilities constrained.

The platform will operate in the area for approximately six months, with the goal of gathering technical data on the behavior of the reservoirs and the oil flow in the subsea lines, along with other data. The information gathered will support the development of the final production system, expected to start operations in the area at the end of 2014 with the installation of FPSO Cidade de Mangaratiba.
During the test period, the well is expected to produce at a restricted flow of approximately 10,000 barrels of oil per day. The project is being developed by the consortium formed by Petrobras (the operator, with a stake of 65%), BG E&P Brasil Ltda. - BG Group (25%) and Petrogal Brasil S.A. (10%).
