The hull of the ship MT Welsh Venture, which will be converted into the FPSO P-58 of Petrobras (SAO:PETR3,SAO:PETR4,NYSE:PBR,NYSE:PBRA,Latibex:XPBR,Latibex:XPBRA,BCBA:APBR,BCBA:APBRA), which operates in the pre-salt field of the Baleia Azul field, will dock at the work site of Queiroz Galvão, in Porto Novo do Rio Grande, state of Rio Grande do Sul, today (11 / 10) at about 14h (GMT -3). The ship arrived from Singapore, where he held the adequacy of the hull, on September 20 and since then awaiting the approval of the procedures necessary for docking. The ship sailed for self-propelled and is anchored off the port entrance channel. Due to the size of the vessel, it will be necessary to perform a special maneuver to enter the port, overseen by the Port Authority.

The services of the FPSO Petrobras 58 (P-58) will be executed by the contractor Queiroz Galvao in construction site at the southern tip of the port. In addition to converting the hull, there will be the integration of modules built in the cities of Niterói and Itaguaí in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Upon completion, the P-58 will be installed in pre-salt Baleia Azul field, in the state of Espirito Santo, about 78 km offshore in water depths of 1,400 meters. Floating of the FPSO type (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading), the platform will be able to produce, process, store and dispose of oil, with production capacity of 180,000 barrels of oil/day, capacity to compress 6 million cubic meters of gas/day, water injection of 350 thousand barrels/day and accommodation for 110 people.

The termination of services in Rio Grande and Porto Novo output is planned for June 2013. In total, investment in construction of the P-58 is estimated at 1.34 billion dollars, with a high national implementation due to the completion of construction of the modules, the hull conversion, and integration are performed in Brazil.
